# What is Strata?

> The problem Strata solves, the markets it addresses, and how the system fits together.

## What Strata is

Strata is a **modular financial infrastructure platform** designed to:

* Unlock liquidity from real-world commodity assets
* Originate asset-backed credit
* Power on-chain liquidity markets
* Issue a stable digital settlement unit, **srUSD**

It is **not** a bank, broker-dealer, or fund. It is a coordinated, multi-entity
system of independent but interoperable layers, built so that asset origination,
credit, liquidity, and settlement reinforce one another.

## The problem

Owners of mineral rights, commodities, and private assets face a binary choice:

    Preserve your upside, but sacrifice all liquidity. Capital stays locked in
    the ground or on the cap table.

  <Card title="Sell" icon="arrow-right-from-bracket">
    Gain liquidity, but forfeit long-term value, future production, and control.
  </Card>

Traditional financing forces you to give something up — equity, upside, or
control. Strata offers a third option: **non-dilutive financing structures**
(royalties, revenue participation, asset-backed credit) that let owners retain
ownership and upside while accessing capital.

## The market opportunity

Three converging, large markets:

Private credit is also resetting: risk mispricing, illiquidity mismatches, and
weak collateral (projections rather than assets). Capital increasingly wants
transparency, real collateral, and liquidity — exactly what Strata is built to
provide.

## Two verticals

    reserve owners.

    **Interface:** a regulated, accredited / institutional surface.

## How the system fits together

Strata is composed of four coordinated engines. Money is the control plane;
Markets supply liquidity and primitives; Credit originates assets; and the
structured-products layer does the financial engineering.

  **One-liner:** Capital markets infrastructure for real-world assets. Unlock
  liquidity from your reserves without selling your upside.
